Dangote Refinery Strengthens Position in U.S. Gasoline Market with Fresh Exports

The Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest oil refinery, has increased its footprint in the international energy trade by dispatching three additional gasoline cargoes to the United States within just ten days. This marks a significant step in establishing Nigeria as a reliable player in the New York Harbour gasoline market.

The Gemini Pearl has already discharged more than 42,000 tonnes of gasoline in New Jersey. Two more vessels, the Mh Daisen and Seaexplorer, are currently en route carrying a combined 82,000 tonnes, underscoring the refinery’s growing role in meeting U.S. fuel demand.

According to Edwin Devakumar, Executive Director of Dangote Refinery, the facility’s gasoline consistently meets U.S. specifications. “Our products maintain sulphur content at 3–6 ppm and octane ratings fully aligned with New York Harbour standards,” he said.

Industry analysts note that these shipments highlight Nigeria’s increasing integration into the global energy market, with the Dangote Refinery emerging as a key exporter of low-sulphur, high-octane gasoline.
