Bridging Nigeria and Angola: Governor Sule’s Bold Push for Africa’s Next Economic Frontier

Lafia, Nasarawa State — The Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has reaffirmed his commitment to international partnerships by holding high-level bilateral talks with the Nigeria–Angola Joint Development Commission. The discussions focused on expanding mutual economic cooperation, trade, and investment opportunities between Nasarawa State and Angola.

Governor Sule, who has consistently positioned Nasarawa as a leading destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Nigeria, highlighted the state’s strategic potential in agriculture, mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure development. He stressed that the partnership with Angola will not only strengthen bilateral relations but also create new platforms for private sector participation and cross-border investment.

The Governor was accompanied by senior state officials, including:

  • Barr. Isaac Danladi, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice
  • Mohammed Otto, Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment
  • Ibrahim Abdullahi, Managing Director of the Nasarawa Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA)

Following the talks, NASIDA executives engaged in technical meetings with officials of Angola’s Bengo Region to prepare for an upcoming trade and investment forum. The forum will serve as a platform for joint ventures in mining, agribusiness, manufacturing, and energy, designed to benefit both Nasarawa State and Bengo Province.

Governor Sule described the initiative as part of his administration’s vision to drive economic diversification, regional cooperation, and sustainable development. Both parties expressed optimism that the collaboration would deepen commercial ties, generate jobs, and create wealth for citizens across Nigeria and Angola.

The forthcoming Nasarawa–Bengo Investment Forum is expected to formalize agreements and set the foundation for long-term Nigeria–Angola economic partnerships.
