“I Am a Product of Insults” – PBAT

Abuja, Nigeria – In a candid admission that underscores the rough and tumble nature of Nigerian politics, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) has shared insights from his political journey, emphasizing that insults and criticism are an inherent part of the political landscape. Speaking at a recent event, Tinubu remarked, “I am a product of insults, affirming his belief that those who enter public service must be prepared to weather the storm of public opinion.

Tinubu noted that while some people may become easily angered or concerned when they see him facing insults, he views such reactions as childish. “It’s my right to be insulted,” he stated decisively, adding that politics is often akin to a “bully game,” where maintaining focus is paramount to success. Drawing from the world of boxing, he compared himself to the legendary Muhammad Ali, who famously danced around his opponents, frustrating them before delivering decisive blows. “You must keep your eyes on the ball,” he asserted, highlighting the importance of strategy in both politics and life.

Reflecting on his long career in politics, Tinubu acknowledged the barrage of insults he has endured, stating, “I have received uncountable insults since I joined politics.” Despite the negativity, he believes these experiences have been “food” and “medicine” for his political resilience, contributing to where he stands today.

Tinubu illustrated that politics is a game of numbers and common sense, ultimately aimed at improving the lives of the citizens. “Win some, lose some,” he acknowledged, reminding those in the political arena that while victories are sought, perfection is unattainable. “You can never win all, but you must strive to win all,” he concluded, encapsulating the complexities and challenges inherent in governance.

As Nigeria continues to navigate its political landscape, President Tinubu’s reflections serve as a reminder that resilience and focus are key attributes for those in leadership positions. His acceptance of scrutiny reinforces the notion that public service often comes with a price, yet it remains a noble pursuit aimed at the greater good of the populace.

As Tinubu continues his journey, he remains steadfast in his mission to implement policies that improve lives, while embracing the realities of a politically charged environment.
